Bank Office Bombed in Basque City.

A branch of the BBVA bank was bombed on Thursday in the Basque city of Gasteiz in Spain's Basque region, local news reported. Callers claiming to represent ETA warned emergency workers and the Basque newspaper Gara just after midnight and minutes before the explosion, which caused severe damage to the bank and lesser damage to neighbouring properties, according to police. No injuries were reported. ETA called a ceasefire in 1998 but ended it last December blaiming the Spanish government and the "moderate" Basques nationalist parties PNV and EA, which govern three Basque provinces in Spain. According to ETA, the Spanish government disclosed details on their first meeting and the name of the mediator, Bishop Uriarte. The ETA leadership also accuses the "moderate" Basque nationalist parties PNV and EA for breaking an agreement with ETA that called for the parties to break relations with Spain. Seven months after ETA called off a 14-month cease-fire, the Basque liberation organization wages a new offensive while politicians row over Basque conflict.
